FLOX Anniversary 2023

In October of 2023, FLOX hosted their 3rd anniversary party at The Van Alen Institute (303 Bond Street, Brooklyn, NY). An institutional friend and collaborator, their values align deeply with ours, and we appreciate the invitation to have our gathering at their office.

The evening featured a very special conversation with mentor and political inspiration, Barbara Smith.  For more information on Barbara’s legacy and lineage that our studio is so deeply informed by, we encourage you to read the Combahee River Collective statement, which as far as we see it, is the origin point of Black feminist theory.

We were captivated by Barbara’s storytelling and honored to soak up so much knowledge. Barbara gave us 4 key reflection questions that’d we’d love to know your answers for!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • What do we mean by struggle?

  • What do we mean by solidarity?

  • What do we mean by radical?

  • What do we mean by revolution(ary)

Beforehand and after, guests had time to connect with one another and enjoy drinks and delicious nibbles.

It was a night to remember! Enjoy the replay below or on the FLOX YouTube channel!
